LinkedIn Knows Content is Social Fire

LinkedIn Knows Content is Social Fire

In the last few days LinkedIn has been rolling out new features that will turn the online CV and business network into a content and engagement hub similar to the likes of Facebook and the ever popular Twitter. Ryan Roslansky of LinkedIn (http://blog.linkedin.com/2012/10/02/follow-people/) talks about how focused LinkedIn is to delivering the best networks for millions of professionals. LinkedIn will soon be releasing two important pieces of user functionality.

Follow – you can now follow 150 of the world’s most influential leaders who will be posting content specifically for their LinkedIn audiences. We expect this feature to get a general roll out so users can follow anyone on LinkedIn before the end of the year.

Blogging – will enable LinkedIn users to post more detailed and meaningful content to their business followers. Like the new ‘Follow’ functionality, blogs is restricted to the same 150 influential leaders. Again, it won’t be long before this feature are on general release

What this means to LinkedIn users and business professionals is a way to engage with your connections through the power of content and thought leadership. In a way, Twitter removing LinkedIn from its API has fueled the site to re-evaluate how it serves and generates content, which is only a great thing for the millions of people that use Linkedin.
