Omobono 2.0: How we’re changing as a business to reflect the world we live in

Sunday is International Women’s Day and the theme this year is Each For Equal. For me this feels particularly relevant for us this year given the work we’ve managed to get off the ground with our Diversity and Inclusion team over the last months.

We’ve shaped our focus on becoming a company that is representative of the world we live in. We are striving to create a level playing field where your contributions as the person you are matter as much as the job you do. Where your opinions have a home, where you can say what you mean and mean what you say. We’re doing this from the ground up with a team of Omobonians who are committed to making this company an exceptional place to work for everyone here.

I am very proud to be working at a company where 50% of our Exec team is female, but we can always do more to encourage balance in all of our teams and across the company. Our D&I team is leading a really important project around diversity in recruitment and reducing bias. A small, but important, example of this was a change of language used in describing a role which saw an increase in female applicants from the norm for that role.

So, in the spirit of celebrating amazing women, here are 10 must watch Ted Talks from seriously impressive women in their fields.

And, because it’s topical to our work on Omobono 2.0 which is a huge drive for our agency this year, here is Brené Brown’s record breaking Ted Talk on shame which launched her work into the world at large.
